Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is shutting down! Nintendo's popular mobile game will end its online services on November 28th, 2024, leaving many players surprised. This news comes just days before the game's seventh anniversary on November 21st.
The Shutdown Details:
Online services, including Leaf Ticket acquisition and Pocket Camp Club memberships, will cease. Auto-renewal for Pocket Camp Club memberships stops October 28th; existing memberships won't be refunded but will grant a commemorative badge. The final opportunity to obtain Leaf Tickets is November 26th. The online servers officially shut down at 7:00 AM PST on November 28th.
A Silver Lining: Offline Play:
While online features are ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. This version will lack online interactions like Market Boxes, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites. However, players will retain their saved progress and enjoy the core gameplay offline. More details on this paid offline version are expected around October 2024.
Nintendo's Mobile Game Strategy:
This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo discontinuing mobile games, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, with Mario Kart Tour also seemingly in a state of reduced support. Therefore, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, while unexpected for some, aligns with this trend.
