Monster Hunter fans have expressed mixed feelings about the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, prompting curiosity about whether Monster Hunter Wilds will follow a similar path. Although we've only seen a limited number of weapons from Wilds so far, it's been challenging to form a comprehensive opinion on their design philosophy. However, Director Yuya Tokuda has provided clarity on this issue.
Discussing the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda stated, "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design." This direct comparison to the approach in Monster Hunter: World clarifies that we can expect a more diverse and distinctive set of weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. While some weapons in Monster Hunter: World did evolve to become unique, many remained quite similar, as seen in the final aqua line Sword and Shield compared to the Pukei-Pukei version, or the bone line Long Sword versus the Jyuratodus version. These images showcase the most upgraded versions available at Monster Hunter: World's launch.
