Few names stir up as much nostalgia among British gamers as Moshi Monsters. There was a time when these charming, quirky creatures appeared everywhere—from TV commercials and magazines to home computers. Now, the original developer, Mind Candy, might bring them back.

The studio just launched a Kickstarter campaign aimed at updating the hit Flash-based MMORPG for modern platforms, especially mobile. According to their pitch, players will revisit Monstro City after a mysterious asteroid strike devastates it, working to rebuild their hometown.

You'll take on the role of one of the six original Moshi Monsters, raising and caring for your own virtual pet, much like in the original game. Along the way, you'll dive into a fresh story-driven adventure filled with minigames and callbacks to the classic MMORPG, all while reconstructing the iconic Monstro City.

It's often said that mobile gaming owes a lot to Flash. Sites like Newgrounds, Miniclip, and Armor Games introduced many young players to gaming, and the genres and mechanics popularized in Flash games have since become staples on mobile.
