Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is poised to offer players a level of freedom that surpasses the studio's previous endeavors. Inspired by the likes of Elden Ring, the developers are set to introduce mechanics that emphasize open-world exploration. Journalist Ben Hanson has disclosed that the game will be set on a singular, expansive planet where players will delve into the enigmas of a lost civilization and explore the tenets of a new religion, which will be central to the narrative. While it's uncertain how closely the game will adhere to traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the studio is steering away from the linear gameplay typical of their past projects.

The Heretic Prophet marks the studio's inaugural venture where players will navigate the game world solo, without the aid of companions or allies. As Neil Druckmann explains, the goal is to evoke a profound sense of isolation within an uncharted universe, while simultaneously exploring themes of faith and religion. The story unfolds in an alternate future on the planet Sempiria, which has been isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years. It is on this planet that bounty hunter Jordan Moon embarks on her mission.

Druckmann further reveals that the game's development drew inspiration from titles such as Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a shift away from conventional guidance, leaning instead towards a narrative style where players must actively piece together the story's fragments themselves.

Announced at TGA 2024, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not yet have a confirmed release date, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further details.
