No DRM for Veilguard: A Win for Players

PC Preload Unavailable

BioWare's Michael Gamble announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not utilize Denuvo DRM on PC. This anti-piracy software, while popular with publishers like EA, is often criticized for performance issues. The decision has been met with positive reactions from players, many expressing their intention to purchase the game at launch.

Gamble also confirmed that Veilguard will not require an always-online connection. However, this DRM-free approach means no PC preload. This is a setback for some, given the game's 100GB+ size. Console players, however, will still have the option to preload. Xbox early access players can install now, while PlayStation early access begins October 29th.

Veilguard's System RequirementsAlongside the DRM announcement, BioWare released the system requirements. High-end PCs can leverage ray tracing and uncapped frame rates, while minimum specs prioritize accessibility. Consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity and performance modes targeting 30 and 60 FPS respectively. To fully utilize ray tracing on PC, players will need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
