Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Classic Modes and Map, Plus Post-Launch Updates
Activision's latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 6, is getting a boost with the addition of two highly anticipated game modes and a beloved map. Just days after its release, Treyarch announced the arrival of "Infected" and the iconic Nuketown map.
Infected and Nuketown: A Blast from the Past
The thrilling "Infected" mode, a Call of Duty staple, drops this week, pitting survivors against player-controlled zombies. Following closely behind, on November 1st, Nuketown, the classic map first seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), will make its return. This 1950s-themed map, inspired by American nuclear test sites, promises intense close-quarters combat. Activision previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions, ensuring Black Ops 6 will continue to evolve. The game launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
Addressing Player Feedback: The First Update
Black Ops 6's initial post-launch update addressed several player-reported issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. Improvements include increased XP and weapon XP rates in key modes like Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight. Activision stated they are closely monitoring XP rates to ensure fair progression. The update also tackled several bugs:
- Global Fixes: Resolved loadout highlighting, Operator animation issues (Bailey), and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Map Fixes: Addressed exploits allowing players to leave the intended play areas on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card maps. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also enhanced.
- Multiplayer Fixes: Improved matchmaking to quickly find replacement players, prevented Private Matches from forfeiting with zero players on a team, and fixed a continuous missile sound issue with the Dreadnought Scorestreak.
Further updates are planned to address remaining issues, such as player deaths during loadout selection in Search & Destroy. Despite these initial post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is widely considered one of the best recent Call of Duty titles, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
