Keep Your Guard Up
Xu Wu's agility makes it a challenging boss in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Its unpredictable movements, exacerbated by its unique shape, can be frustrating to anticipate. Similar to Nu Udra, its dark coloration makes it tough to discern its front. Be prepared to deal with its numerous arms, and stay alert for when it vanishes into walls, only to reemerge from the ceiling for a surprise attack. This tactic is limited to its nest, so exercise extra caution in this location.
Use Ice Attacks
Exploit Xu Wu's vulnerability to the Ice element in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Whether you're using Ice ammo or melee weapons, ensure your gear can deliver elemental damage. Enhance your equipment with a Frost Jewel to gain the Ice Attack skill, and carry a Frost Pod for additional Ice damage opportunities.
Avoid the Grab Attack
In addition to its tentacles and diving maneuvers, Xu Wu employs a grab attack. If ensnared, you'll be unable to use your regular weapons. You have roughly two seconds to break free; using your slinger, particularly with Frost Pods, is the best way to escape this predicament.
Attack Xu Wu's Mouth
The mouth, Xu Wu's weakest spot, is concealed beneath its body and only visible during its dive attacks. A well-timed, powerful strike here can cause substantial damage and might break its mouth, rewarding you with Xu Wu's fang. If the mouth is unreachable, aim for the head, which has a high susceptibility to blunt and cut damage, and moderate to ammo damage.
Use Poison
Leverage Xu Wu's 3-star weakness to Poison. A bow with Poison Coating is particularly effective for applying this status ailment. While other status effects can be useful, steer clear of Sleep, as it's less effective against this monster.

Quickly follow up with a tranquilizer shot to keep Xu Wu from escaping. Remember, timing is critical; you have only a brief window to act before the beast breaks free.
