Freedom Wars Remastered: Every Weapon Type Explained

Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types

Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation, offering diverse strategic options from six distinct weapon types. Mix and match to create a character perfectly suited to your preferred playstyle.

Three melee and three ranged weapon types exist, each fully customizable. Some weapons feature unique charged-attack effects. New weapons are acquired through Operations or Zakka, the shop in The Warren. While Comrade weapon choices are fixed, Accessory weapon selection is entirely up to you. Switching weapons frequently incurs no penalties.

Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks ideal for swift combat against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Wide-ranging attacks delivering substantial damage. Well-placed attacks hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch you into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed.
Polearm Attacks propel you forward, useful for dodging incoming attacks. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant damage from a distance.
Assault Weapons High ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne for advantageous angles or safe-distance attacks.
Portable Artillery High single-shot damage but low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed.
Autocannons High rate of fire with large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, compensated by rapid fire. Reduces movement speed.

Unlike the player character, your Accessory doesn't need to manage ammunition for ranged weapons.
