Author: Joseph Dec 03,2025

IGN has exclusively revealed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum exhibit in September 2025.

Team Cherry's highly anticipated sequel, developed over many years in Adelaide, South Australia, currently tops Steam wishlists globally. While the studio maintains only a broad 2025 release window, visitors to ACMI - Australia's national screen culture museum in Melbourne - will experience the game firsthand from September 18.

The playable demo will feature in ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition alongside displays exploring Silksong's artistic vision and game design philosophy.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell stated: "Since its 2019 announcement, Hollow Knight: Silksong has ranked among gaming's most awaited indie titles. We're honored to showcase this South Australian-developed game as a centerpiece of September's Game Worlds exhibition."

"Our comprehensive Silksong displays will reveal everything from Hornet's animated sprite sheets to boss battle mechanics - plus hands-on gameplay access. We deeply appreciate Team Cherry for entrusting us with their creative work."

As part of the announcement, ACMI shared an exclusive sprite sheet (below) from Silksong's development archives - one of many design documents exhibited in Game Worlds.

Fans hope the full release arrives soon.

This museum announcement naturally raises questions about Silksong's official launch date. The playable September demo suggests a potential August release - especially considering recent developments.

The sequel recently appeared in Nintendo's Switch 2 presentation, confirming its 2025 window with brief new footage. Originally planned for Switch and PC, Silksong will also release on Xbox (including Game Pass) and PlayStation consoles.

After years of enigmatic teases - including a cryptic chocolate cake recipe posted by Team Cherry this January - fans eagerly await concrete news about the Hollow Knight sequel's arrival.
