Hyper Light Breaker offers players a diverse array of characters, each with distinct playstyles, to battle the formidable Abyss King. Unlocking new characters in this game is straightforward, yet the process might be unclear to new players. This guide will walk you through how to unlock new Breakers and provide an overview of the available characters in the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker.

This guide pertains to the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, which currently features only two unlockable characters. We will update this guide as more characters become available.

How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

To unlock new characters, players must collect Abyss Stones, which are dropped exclusively by the Crowns, the game's bosses. Before challenging these bosses, you'll need to acquire Prisms, which serve as keys to the boss arenas. You can locate Prisms on the map by following the golden diamond icon.

After defeating a boss, return to the teleporter at the Cursed Outpost and select the Breaker you wish to unlock. Use your Abyss Stones to unlock the chosen character, making them available for play. Currently, there are nine characters in the game, but only two can be unlocked using Abyss Stones. The method for unlocking the remaining characters is yet to be revealed.

All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

Each character in Hyper Light Breaker begins with a SyCom, a crucial item that defines their base stats and core perk, shaping their unique playstyle. Here's a detailed look at each character and their playstyles:

Vermillion

Vermillion is the starting character equipped with the Gunslinger SyCom, which enhances his ranged combat capabilities. His Rail shots have a chance to crit, with a subsequent shot guaranteed to crit if the first one does.

For players who enjoy melee combat, Vermillion can switch to the Tank SyCom, which boosts his armor upon perfect parries and offers superior defensive and melee stats compared to Gunslinger, making it a safer choice.

Lapis

Lapis starts with the Lightweaver SyCom, which increases her Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. Her unique trait is the Warrior SyCom, which enhances her core stats with each upgrade she receives.

With either SyCom, Lapis is a formidable fighter, but the Warrior SyCom makes her exceptionally powerful as she accumulates upgrades, surpassing other Breakers in raw stats.

Goro

Goro is designed for ranged combat with his default Astrologer SyCom, which speeds up the charging of his Blade skills while shooting. The unlockable Sniper SyCom boosts his critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward character.

Goro's damage output is significantly higher than that of Vermillion and Lapis, but his lack of a defensive SyCom makes him challenging to master. Skillful play with Goro can lead to devastating results on the battlefield.
