Infinity Nikki Snapped Up Devs from BotW and The Witcher 3

Infinity Nikki's highly anticipated open-world debut on PC and PlayStation is almost here! A new behind-the-scenes documentary reveals the extensive development journey and the impressive talent behind this fashion-focused adventure. Let's delve into the making of Infinity Nikki.

A Glimpse into Miraland

The 25-minute documentary showcases the years of dedication and passion poured into creating Infinity Nikki, launching December 4th (EST/PST). The project, initiated in December 2019, began as a secret endeavor, with a separate office established to maintain confidentiality. The initial team focused on conceptualization and infrastructure development for over a year.

Game designer Sha Dingyu highlights the unprecedented challenge of integrating the established Nikki dress-up mechanics with an open-world environment. This required building a framework from the ground up, a process spanning years of research and development.

The Nikki franchise, originating with NikkiUp2U in 2012, reaches its fifth installment with Infinity Nikki—the first to grace PC and consoles alongside mobile platforms. The team chose to pursue a significant technological and product upgrade, rather than simply creating another mobile iteration. This commitment is exemplified by the producer's creation of a clay model of the Grand Millewish Tree, symbolizing the team's passion.

The documentary offers stunning glimpses of Miraland, focusing on the Grand Millewish Tree and its inhabitants, the Faewish Sprites. The vibrant world is brought to life by NPCs with their own daily routines, adding depth and realism, as noted by game designer Xiao Li.

A Team of Industry Titans

Infinity Nikki's exceptional visuals are a testament to its talented team. Beyond the core Nikki team, the project boasts experienced international talent. Kentaro "Tomiken" Tominaga, Lead Sub Director, brings his expertise from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while concept artist Andrzej Dybowski contributes his skills honed on The Witcher 3.

From its official development start on December 28th, 2019, to its December 4th, 2024 launch, the team dedicated 1814 days to bringing their vision to life. Prepare for an unforgettable adventure in Miraland with Nikki and Momo this December!
