Studio eyes "Naughty Dog of Europe" status with Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become Europe's answer to Naughty Dog. Inspired by the cinematic storytelling and high production values of Naughty Dog's Uncharted series, Remedy Entertainment, as Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, aims to achieve similar heights in the European gaming landscape. This aspiration heavily influenced the development of both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2.

Rowley explicitly stated their goal: "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog." This influence is clearly visible in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, stunning visuals, and gripping narrative. The game's success has cemented Remedy's position as a leading European game studio.

Remedy's ambitions extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises (the latter being one of the most critically acclaimed game series ever), serves as a benchmark for Remedy's aspirations.

Alan Wake 2, even over a year post-launch, continues to receive updates. Recent improvements include enhancements across all platforms, most notably a new "Balanced" graphics option for the PS5 Pro, cleverly combining the best aspects of its Performance and Quality modes. These updates also address minor graphical tweaks for smoother frame rates and clearer visuals, alongside bug fixes, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
