Freedom Wars Remastered Shows Off Gameplay Systems

Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, offering a fresh look at this dystopian action RPG. The core loop remains familiar: battling massive mechanical creatures called Abductors, harvesting their parts to upgrade gear, and completing various missions. However, the remaster significantly enhances the experience.

The game, originally a PlayStation Vita exclusive developed as a response to Capcom's move of the Monster Hunter franchise to Nintendo consoles, features a futuristic setting and a gameplay loop strikingly similar to Monster Hunter. Players take on the role of a "Sinner," sentenced to complete missions for their Panopticon (city-state) to serve their sentence. Missions range from rescuing citizens and eliminating Abductors to securing control systems, playable solo or cooperatively online.

The trailer highlights several key improvements. Visually, the game receives a significant upgrade, jumping to 4K resolution (2160p) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC. PS4 players can expect 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version will run at 1080p but at 30 FPS. Beyond the visual enhancements, gameplay is faster-paced thanks to improved mechanics and increased movement speed, including the ability to cancel weapon attacks.

Crafting and upgrading have been streamlined with more intuitive interfaces. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources obtained from rescued citizens. For seasoned players, a challenging new "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode has been added. Furthermore, all customization DLC from the original PS Vita release is included from the outset.

Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
